Barry Hillier

Founder & Evangelist at Powered by Dashboard The most innovative company in automotive

I began my career in publishing and advertising where I was fortunate to be involved in a variety of strategic and account positions at Rannie Publishing, Saatchi & Saatchi, BBDO and Operex. I've always been an entrepreneur, long before I started a company. It's just part of my DNA. I love building great ideas and developing those ideas into great businesses. People talk about the digital transformation and I've been fortunate to have played a part of much of this transformation since the .com days. Now, I don't see digital as being anything other than another extension of a great company. A great company consists of focused strategy and solid creative execution built on a backbone of passionate people with energy, talent and drive. No company can succeed without passionate and talented people. I love working with passionate people and have been privileged to work with some of the best in the industry. Together we have created many firsts including: -Building one of the first rich media players for the Vancouver Canucks -Being one of the first to use dynamic interactive ads for Juicy Fruit -Being one of the first companies to use Facebook Connect for Hellmann's -Being one of the first to create a stereoscopic 3D website for 3M Filtrate -Being the first to create a dynamic interactive desktop video avatar for Axe Body Spray -Being the first to create contextual video ads for ING Direct on Youtube Since evolving from advertising and branding, I have decided to focus on building products for the automotive industry. We have created Glovebox, a CMS for dealers and OEM's, in addition to RevUps, Bumper, Spark and Odometer. All of our products are geared around a SaaS (software as a service) model ensuring full transparency for Dealers, in addition to control, measurability and ROI. Dashboard caters to the automotive industry and our goal is to continue to expand and grow into the most innovative company in the automotive vertical while taking on passion projects that are meaningful and thought provoking. The future will expand beyond automotive, but for now, I love the opportunity to be a part of this industry.

In Listen Up, Gen X:
Hi Tony, I'm not disagreeing with your comments as I've experienced them also, including the "I'm not fulfilled" side of Millennials. There are many comments that can be made about some members of that generation, but not all of them. Likewise, my article was not representative of all Gen X'ers. I agree fully with you that adapting and change is required in today's job market, regardless of which generation you belong to. Thanks for your comment.
